What was once an aging 1940's automotive repair shop has been magically transformed into NE Portland's coolest new cart pod venue, serving up food and drinks for the whole neighborhood to enjoy! The magicians responsible for this feat are of course yours truly, along with one of our favorite repeat clients.

This pit stop was revitalized into a lively dining destination, bringing 8 new food cart options to Fremont St. and further enlivening the rich pedestrian nature of the community. We worked with the client team to transform this auto shop into a fresh new bar space- complete with storage, indoor/outdoor seating, and public restrooms.

There were some unique challenges along the way: a tight adjacent property line, pre-existing structural additions, inconsistent wall construction, and the removal of all floors. We even uncovered an in-floor wheel dyno meter that measured vehicles’ horsepower back in the day! Though the building's use has changed, its automotive history has been woven into the new design.
