Should we tell you about his experience? Probably.

Dave is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience in the field, which is hard to believe, we know, since he barely looks a day over 52. He’s worked on more than a few typologies over the years, but his specialty is in food service. And we don’t say that just because we think he’s always angling for a free meal; he designs a sharp service kitchen and has delivered some pretty kick-ass restaurant designs.

The Man. The Myth. The Legend

Dave, a Principal and one of Woodblock’s founders, is an agile and dynamic human, passionate about creating unique spaces and is sometimes referred to as ‘The Father of Birds.’ His expertise spans small tenant improvements to multiphase site planning for large mixed-use projects. Dave is a licensed architect in five states, one more and that will be six. Whoa.

Does Dave still wear turtlenecks?

Honestly, we’ve managed to cut back on the required turtleneck time in the office, but there have been some rumors floating at the water cooler that he’s still wearing them on his bird-watching expeditions.

How strong is he?

Weak. He can barely lift his car keys sometimes, and we have to be like, Dave, you can’t sit with us until you bulk up. What would the birds you watch think? But if we’re talking about his design strength? So strong and yet humble. In fact, the best part of Dave’s design approach is that he does not force his own preconceived design sensibilities upon the client. He works collaboratively to understand the project vision and the client’s aesthetics to create something that embodies both.

Is he licensed?

You better believe he is. He’s licensed in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, and Alaska, with the ability to expand his licensure if need be. His children, however, are unlicensed in the ability to drive and operate motor vehicles, which he loves. If you need a ride, call Dave. He loves driving people places.
